(1) What is an adverb? 甚麼是「副詞」?

An adverb is a word which modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.1 }" ^0 G$ }9 K. [. [; O
副詞是用作修飾句子裡的動詞、形容詞或另一個副詞。8 k- y# k/ |1 k! N) }

For example 例如:% s2 G, d2 R1 \, s) E, ]. u
The old woman is walking slowly.. L# S  C6 F% w4 K( J3 b8 i
("slowly" modifies the verb "is walking";"slowly" 修飾動詞 "is walking")
% S$ M+ C3 x" l; i: t0 kThe ice cream is really tasty. 6 o) s! E8 ~! n: M& O* I& q' P
("really" modifies the adjective "tasty";"really" 修飾形容詞 "tasty" ) ) B" B4 f2 Z  ?: {$ \5 a  c
John eats very slowly. 1 _0 i* k' ~! q2 k8 `3 c) _
("very" modifies the adverb "slowly";"very" 修飾副詞 "slowly" ) ' q$ a, [; t6 p: F9 l

(2) The Suffix of Adverbs 副詞的後綴3 K' V' e, e; U; ^

Usually, an adverb has the letters "ly" at the end of an adjective.
& P7 k" a$ C5 [4 c' V4 K7 D一般來說,副詞是把 "ly" 兩個字母加在形容詞的最尾。
& V9 D- ?( u8 _( d2 A: \For example 例如:
: [- n; N- r- H* l8 R0 u$ Lbad  >  badly
  y; h0 R* I9 K/ Ieasy  >  easily
) u) t7 X$ K$ c- D# ?7 h" Kslow  >  slowly
  A  O  I- E* {% h8 G4 [. A8 h  X
(3) Types of Adverbs 副詞的類別 :1 b1 Z$ r2 w/ f" I
/ A; s" j- q) \; D1 r" \1 A4 V$ F  j
(a) Adverbs of Time (時間副詞)
/ R: h0 f7 [  e+ @3 W! LTo describe "the time" that the action starts or finishes.
1 ?$ n$ w0 D2 d% N" ^+ K時間副詞是描述動詞發生或完成的時間。
! q2 a6 E! E  n* W' i8 C& TFor example 例如:) z: n, k7 N- j& D$ e
I do the homework today. ; S9 X9 g& H6 D- U
My auntie visited us two weeks ago. # k3 q3 K2 T* C; U/ B/ ]( p

' E0 v2 }/ e1 p' W(b) Adverbs of Place (地方副詞)
# o8 f' B, A$ y( `6 iTo describe "the place" that the action happens.2 d$ y# @: b1 V5 P4 m, @+ v) u2 u
地方副詞是描述動作進行的地點。
1 n% N; N5 n6 c& @For example 例如:
8 J" A3 @! u2 l4 X4 hThe bus stops here.
1 m& V: u3 J4 N: CThey live there.
+ E& y) T" j+ O% q; ]$ ?/ W7 B+ Q- u. `/ R- Z$ R
(c) Adverbs of Frequency/Number (頻率/數目副詞) $ o8 e6 x* ?# d; \, E7 o% C
To talk about "how often" or the "number of times" that the action happens.2 w) D& M% \, k0 i$ {
數目副詞是形容動作發生的次數。
" L! h7 v0 b3 `2 ^( NFor example 例如:( j- [  |: h, ]: ]; Q; G% q
I cut my hair once a month.
, y2 q6 X* U3 |# _7 hWe seldom eat at fast food shops.
( L& ?6 w, |, c3 J4 h: a3 j0 ^, ]: T  _4 `; N/ [, H
(d) Adverbs of Manner (態度副詞) 8 p! t8 V  \# \. L. w' L3 d9 D  c
To describe "how" the action happens.
7 R, a9 q- ~% e態度副詞是形容動作如何進行。8 S0 D+ }0 [2 ?* s2 U, C
For example 例如:
. r2 f7 b/ _, z3 x$ G  \% ]7 q- A6 bMy grandma walks slowly. 5 {' e2 F4 q: s, X" @, Q. j
The baby is sleeping quietly. ! `+ ?$ z1 h; f: X3 D

4 l7 k9 E  l3 D. Q(e) Adverbs of Degree (程度副詞)
' c/ v# U4 r' ^' N9 x6 ITo describe the degree or extent that the action happens.
1 K# H. p; a! N3 U' l程度副詞是形容動作的程度或影響限度是怎樣的。6 P( o' e8 F4 ]/ r; M0 D1 j
For example 例如:0 }, }& T, W* ?( G
Miss Hong Kong of this year is really beautiful. / [/ x3 n7 u$ S6 _' m2 w
What did you enjoy doing most?
6 z, |. U" R. `8 X
  r4 `, j" k: H8 c(f) Interrogative Adverbs (疑問副詞) - y7 ]4 b. T, Q! V5 E, k
These are adverbs that we use in a question.
; T" i& l* D, L7 I+ i% m疑問副詞是用在問題裡的副詞。/ I9 p7 [, A  c- `' M* F
For example 例如:& [/ n' H4 g, O, ~3 e( `, m
How are you?
' {" x/ W. p# ?: q* I9 @When will you have your final Chinese test? 5 s7 p& n$ J& {9 L3 T8 R
